{"id":3123,"date":"2020-03-05T16:02:30","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T13:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.garwheritage.co.uk\/?p=3123"},"modified":"2020-03-10T00:27:30","modified_gmt":"2020-03-09T21:27:30","slug":"charitable-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.garwheritage.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=3123","title":{"rendered":"Charitable Status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">The Garw Valley Heritage Society\u00a0is\u00a0pleased to announce that\u00a0it has\u00a0been given charitable status\u00a0as\u00a0a\u00a0Charity Incorporated Organisation\u00a0by the Charities Commission.\u00a0Grateful thanks are due to BAVO, the Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations, for\u00a0its unstinting help and support in achieving this goal. BAVO\u2019s Deb Evans was a constant source of\u00a0advice and\u00a0aid with the\u00a0large\u00a0amount of paperwork involved.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">On February 6th\u00a0the old society was dissolved\u00a0and the new one\u00a0came into being under\u00a0its number 1187117.\u00a0The\u00a0officers\u00a0had to resign\u00a0and be re-elected, and a board of trustees\u00a0appointed- see below.\u00a0The Society\u2019s name remains the same, as do all bank and contact\u00a0details,\u00a0but\u00a0its new status means that\u00a0in matters of\u00a0donations and\u00a0grant applications\u00a0there\u00a0are tax advantages\u00a0such as Gift Aid,\u00a0and\u00a0in matters of recognition and\u00a0involvement\u00a0with external bodies such as\u00a0other Heritage and Historical societies\u00a0the GVHS\u00a0becomes\u00a0a\u00a0more\u00a0important asset\u00a0to the Garw Valley.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Trustees of the Garw Valley Heritage\u00a0Society:<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Roger Stokes- Chairman<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Jean Fowlds- Secretary<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Ian Black- Treasurer<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Colin Simper-Deputy Chairman, Photographer<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Gerald Jarvis- Research and reporting<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Linda Webb &#8211; Archivist<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">Katie Humphrey\u2014Social Media contact.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">It is planned that an Open Day to mark the new status will be held in the Summer this year, the year which also marks the centenary of the death of Daniel James of Calon Lan fame. Full details of those events will be given nearer the time, but meanwhile- do not forget to pay us a visit on the weekend of May 8-10 at Bryngarw Park where there will be an exhibition of the Society\u2019s photographs and artefacts, some relating to WW2, as the weekendwill also be marking the centenary of VE Day.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"s3 wp-block-paragraph\">All enquiries and correspondence: Jean Fowlds, 01656 856091.
