  1. I visited your villages and valley last Sunday in the rain … esp looking for a family of FORD who had left the east Bristol coalfields area about 1908. My great grandmother Emma Ford was one of around 10 children, the youngest was Jonathan Ford who came to 153 Victoria Street in the 1911 census. The 1921 will be out next year but I would like to see if I have any 3rd. cousins living still in your well wooded valley.
Jonathan had a son Jonathan junior who only died in 1944, in your area, the year I was born near Bath.
I met a chap in the Premier shop on the main road who said he knows a Gaynor Ford, but sadly I didn;t follow this up, mainly because I was badly parked across a bungalow entrance outside! And had to move the car.
The Ford father and son were in the coal fields and later an insurance agent, so many folk would have known him/them. Please have you any contacts? Yours Sincerely, Jonathan Metcalfe. now in Dorset.

  2. I know Gaynor Ford, married to Brian Ford and they live in Llangeinor. I will ask her if it is the same family.
