A free guided walk will be taking place in Blaengarw on Saturday 17th September.
The theme for the walk will be the life of Daniel James, a poet who lived and worked in Blaengarw during the 1880’s and wrote the words for the popular Welsh hymn “Calon Lan”. You will also hear stories about the mining and social history of the area accompanied by photographs from our archives.
Walk Information
- The first walk will start at 10 a.m and then continue throughout the day until 5.p.m. (the final walk of the day).
- Duration of each walk is approx 1 hour (90 min)
- The area to be walked is mostly paved, however there are some rough patches and inclines to be negotiated.
- The walk Assembly / Finishing point will be the Blaengarw Visitors Centre (next to Calon Lan Park). Car parking facilites are available.
